12. Variables: Named Model Values

In TreeAge Pro, a variable is a named value which functions as a reference for a numeric value (or a formula). We recommend using variables as it provides transparency and consistency for model values, and it allows for the study of parameter uncertainty.

This section focuses on creating and using variables in models. It will look at the tools needed to review and edit variables. Further sections will consider:

• Building Formulas

• Keywords and Functions.

In more complex models, variables are often used from the outset of building the model as best practice.

This section will consider creating variables in models from the start of model building and then editing formulas as required.
