6.6 Adding Event Rewards

Most events in the patient pathways (transition subtrees) will not have an associated cost or utility. However, some events (e.g., surgery, screening test, stroke) could have an associated cost. Even less frequently, an event might have a short term disutility (negative utility).

The Markov Cancer model does not have event rewards, but this section briefly describes how you would add them.

To add an Event Reward:

  • Identify and select an event with an associated Cost and/or Utility.

  • Open the Markov View. The view context is tied to the Event/Transition you have selected.

  • Enter the Cost and/or Utility value under “Trans Rewards”. These event-based values are not affected by cycle length. They are optional, so we don't need to enter values if there are none.
