6. Building Markov Models

This section covers the basics of creating and analyzing Markov processes with TreeAge Pro Healthcare. Some basic conceptual background is provided.

This chapter will build a Markov model from a stub model that has already been configured and already includes its input variables. You can always start with the section about Building Healthcare Decision Trees if you are just beginning with TreeAge Pro.

As you work through this section, we will guide you to other sections in the Help to find out more details about some fundamental concepts about building model which are not specifically related to Markov Models.

Note that you can often build Markov models more quickly using the Markov Model Wizard towards the end of this chapter. This would take the place of the steps that add health states and transitions among health states.

If you are looking for further Markov Model building tools, the section More Markov Model Tools is the best place to begin.
